A Sacred Companion
One day, as I was watching three Lesser Scaups swim along the Fox River, I realized an essential spiritual truth: no one travels alone.
We are always journeying with someone. Sometimes we may not recognize our companions--sometimes they might seem invisible. But faith tells me that I am never alone, and the practice of spiritual direction helps me know that in a very real, experiential way.
Spiritual direction is a practice in having such an intentional companion for your journey. One person (the director) walks with another person (the directee) on his or her spiritual journey. The focus of a spiritual direction session is on the directee's experiences of God; the director offers a welcome space and compassionate ear for the directee to grow in closer relationship the the Divine. Spiritual direction is a safe and welcome space where you can share the story of your spiritual journey.
If you are interested in such companioning--whether through spiritual direction or retreat planning--please contact me, and I can help you discern whether spiritual direction is for you and help you find a suitable director.
