Settle your mind by focusing on your breathing. Inhale slowly, exhale softly. Let your thoughts, emotions, and anxieties float away with each breath. Allow your mind to become still while your breathing becomes effortless.
What are things people do to you that you find helpful? What are things that people do for you that you appreciate? Make a list.
Reflect on the day that was and think of the people you encountered. Did you treat them in those ways? Did you help them in the same way you appreciate being helped? Imagine Jesus (or someone you love, such as a spouse, parent, or child) helping you in that manner. What feelings well up in you?
Make another list. This time, think of the things people do to you that frustrate you, upset you, or make you angry.
Reflect on the day that was and think of the people you encountered. Did you treat them in those ways? Did you make them angry in the same way people make you angry? Imagine treating Jesus (or someone you love, such as a spouse, parent, or child) in that manner. What feelings well up in you?
What do you need to treat people as you would like to be treated? What grace do you need to restrain yourself from treating others badly when they treat you badly? Ask God for whatever graces you need to follow the Golden Rule, and ask for forgiveness when you haven't.

Lord, fill my heart with mercy and discernment; may I always be moved by love, kindness, and compassion. Amen.
